An arbutus tree growing on the rocky shore of Thetis Island. The title reflects my amazement that a whole tree can grow out of a crack. Obviously it does find enough water and nourishment, but it must be a struggle in a dry summer.
The painting is 24 x 18 ins., acrylic on canvas. It was painted entirely with knives, in 2019.
