Patrolling his Wall

My first attempt to paint a dog. He was a very large and ferocious guard dog photographed from below his ramparts on a property in Romania.

Acrylic, 2008. At the time this painting felt like a breakthrough. I remember thinking that this was closer to how I wanted to paint.
